Helping America with community indexing

A paradox is that every index that shows america (or parts of usa) is poor at community building is an opportunity to discover job creation in the community

Quality of children’s live2 20^th out of 21 in advanced nation –ie more adult time and safe facilities need to be invested in children

Ever lowering popsicle indices of being on the street – ie make streets safer; give youth things to community-build and pride rather than destroy and loss of self-confidence

Lack of community-banking – ie an opportunity to facilitate investment in income generation in the community

Launch of green – ending waster starts with very local activities as does  tapping into nature’s natural energies and flows

Places that are rich in community but poor momentarily have many replicable franchises to share with places that are poor in community but rich in money. The same also goes for cultures or other demographics if we can dare to make mentoring connections a lot of which the internet can be designed to do if we make that choice

Empowering Obama to empower. In living memory USA has never had as practised a president at community building as obama. However the catch 22 is that empowerment government serves with in a community doesnt rule over it. The same goes for empowering professions. This is why the people need to use the community building tools on the  internet which obama’s teams are offering. These are in effect ways for grassroots to take back quality of governance within which is also a job-building process. Hosting town hall meetings that lead beyond talk to walk means identifying work to be done in the community

Reducing media that makes couch potatoes and addicts out of people- designing community which gets people out there serving one another.

As you may have started to guess, people who have become most trusted for ending poverty are those with the most open source franchises for community building

Consider Jamii Bora’s leader in kenya. Youth do not want to become thieves or prostitutes- this happens when there is literally nothing else offered for them to do. Jamii bora started around the slums of nairobi –one of africa’s biggest cities. In under 10 years it has created 250,000 income generating jobs and its staff are former youth thieves and prostitutes. It uses mobiles the other way round from trivia pursuit for identifying places to community build and to co-mentor

Conversely consider what Bill gates has said about harvard. My one regret is that I did not get a single second of education time on how half of the world live in the broken system of poverty. There is an irony that the man who now has the most finds to end poverty is also the person least educated to do this. The god news is that Boston’s undergraduates are networking with more verve to discover the missing action curriculum of ending poverty and community building than any city we have so far seen. Even better news if you have evidence that the last sentence is wrong, why not share your cases of american cities where youth have innovated uniquely inspiring ways to community build. We can all learn from innovating this sort of collaboration
